Microsoft – Web Production / UX Design

I worked with the Microsoft Education Web Marketing Team, focusing on design and production for the Microsoft Education website. The role required close collaboration with project managers, design teams, and developers to bring new web pages to life, ensuring they were functional, visually engaging, and compliant with accessibility and SEO standards.

This page presented some challenges with an animated hero image, but I was able to adjust the MP4 file in Premiere.

Challenges:

  • Coordinate efforts between multiple teams to efficiently pull together all necessary assets for new page builds.
  • Ensure web pages were responsive across various devices and compliant with ADA standards for accessibility.
  • Implement SEO best practices to enhance search visibility while adhering to Microsoft’s web guidelines.
  • Maintain brand consistency while using a detailed knowledge of CMS systems, HTML, and CSS to execute the designs.

Approach:

  1. Collaboration and Coordination: Worked closely with the project manager, design team, and development team to gather all assets and content necessary for new web pages. This involved detailed planning to ensure each team was aligned on the vision and timeline.
  2. CMS Expertise: Utilized a deep understanding of the CMS to build pages that were functional and optimized for ease of use. This included selecting the right plugins and ensuring content was correctly formatted for web use.
  3. Responsive Design and ADA Compliance: Ensured all pages were fully responsive and adhered to ADA accessibility standards. This included optimizing design elements for various devices and ensuring accessibility features were built in from the start.
  4. SEO and Web Graphics: Integrated SEO best practices, such as keyword optimization and metadata, while creating and optimizing web graphics that aligned with the Microsoft Education brand.

The pages were fully responsive, accessible, and SEO-friendly, helping to drive traffic and engagement. The close collaboration between teams ensured the timely delivery of high-quality web pages that met both user and business needs.
